FightNews – Jr welterweight Nick Casal (22-4-1, 17 KOs) was brutally attacked last night in Buffalo, New York. Casal was out with his girlfriend when from he was brutally attacked from behind by a gang wielding golf clubs. The attackers were identified as her ex-boyfriend and his friends. Medical reports are that Casal has a possible broken arm, multiple lacerations, including one at least 12 inches long. Casal was in preparation for the biggest fight of his career on June 29th in his hometown of Niagara Falls against Ruslan Provodnikov (21-1, 14 KOs) for the WBO Inter-Continental title.

Buffalo News – He said his 145-pound son was struck by the assailant 15 or more times in the head and body. For a few hours, doctors sutured numerous deep cuts to the side and back of Casal’s head. By the time doctors were finished, the young boxer’s wounds were closed by more than 300 staples and stitches.

See, this is why I don’t golf. Because you’re always one argument away from someone snatching one of your clubs and bashing your shit in Elin Nordegren style.

And before you get into the semantics of how this wasn’t his golf club and how his lady probably set him up and how this incident is in no way tied to his career as a boxer or sports at all — save it.  It’s all related.  You play with with fire, you get the horns. Mess with the bull you get burned. Simple as that. My kid can play helmetless football against some grown-ass Longest Yard jail team before he steps onto a driving range. Shit’s dangerous.
