fox – A Wilmington man was arrested on Thursday after he robbed a Rita’s Water Ice on Kirkwood Highway. Rita’s was giving away free water ice that day to celebrate the first day of spring. Jeffrey Wilkinson, 28, of Wilmington, ran into the business through a back door just before 10pm on Thursday. Police say Wilkinson was wearing a mask and holding a knife. He threatened a 17 year old female employee while taking money from a tip jar and register. He fled on foot, but police later located Wilkinson smoking marijuana near the Red Clay Creek Apartments. A search of his apartment resulted in the recovery of evidence linking him to the robbery. Wilkinson was charged with robbery first degree, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $45,000 secured bail.
Something tells me the “Red Clay Creek Apartments” that Sales Guy here was caught smoking weed near isn’t a gated community. Knife and mask, Jeff? REALLY, Jeff? The water ice was already free. If you can’t come to the table with an idea better than something a cartoon character would plot then maybe crime isn’t for you. Getting high, losing hair, wearing scoop-neck t-shirts — these are your strengths. Leave robbery to the real criminals.
