Nationals Attempt To ‘Take Back the Park’, Refuse Single-Game Ticket Purchases From Phillies Fans
Dear Nationals Insider,
Let’s work together to keep Phillies fans out – it’s time to TAKE BACK THE PARK! Starting today, single game tickets for the May 4-6 Nationals vs. Phillies series will be made available only to Nationals fans who reside in Washington, D.C., Maryland or Virginia. To take advantage of this offer, click on the green Take Back the Park button below to register. Upon successful registration, you will receive an email with a one-time-use password to complete your purchase. Nationals fans may purchase up to eight tickets per game in one transaction, while supplies last. We invite you to show your Nationals pride and TAKE BACK THE PARK!
Sincerely,
Andrew Feffer
Chief Operating Officer
I’ve always hated the idea of selective ticket sales. Seems completely unAmerican. It’s like saying certain people can’t vote unless their grandfathers voted. Pure prejudice. Restricting ticket sales to a certain geographic area goes against everything wonderful about freedom and equality in this great nation. Which is ironic, because who would have thought the Washington NATIONALS would hate freedom so much?
But hey, whatever it takes to…lose money for your organization? What’s your end game here, Andrew? LOWER ticket sales? DECREASE revenue? Because last time I checked Phils fans were buying up the majority of your seats and putting dollars in YOUR club’s pockets. Money that you then spend on signing free agents and trying to lure Roy Oswalt to the dark side. It’s a two-way street, Nationals. We get to bully your fragile and pre-pubescent fan base in their own home, and you get our cash to eventually try to put together a decent product on the field. That’s the deal.
But by all means — do what’s best for your organization. If that means playing in front of an empty stadium full of half-hearted Virginians with no real interest in the team, so be it.
PS – You know we’re just going to hijack that “#OurPark” hashtag when we find a way to buy tickets and pack the stadium again, right?

most Virginians are O’s fans anyway. what a joke.
Kind of like when I went to see the Red Sox in Philadelphia and it was all Red Sox fans. When Beckett hit a dinger, I thought the place was going to come down.
This will accomplish nothing. Half of the people in northern Va come from PA, land of retards and no jobs. If there’s such a demand for Phillies game tickets, charge double for them. Use the extra cash to buy good players, start beating the Phillies (and everyone else) regularly, and you’ll have your park “back” in no time. Boom, done.
jeffe: that’s wrong, my friend.
2, Nats were 10-8 vs. the Phils last year so…
c. It’s a bold ass move, I’ll grant you that, but given that it’s a weekend series and the fact that the Nats expect to put a serious product on the field this year, it’s a chance definitely worth taking. Obviously people are still gonna buy through stub hub so this isn’t really a big deal at all
they said for a limited time. obviously theyll open it up to the general public soon. everyone has pre-sales.
There are Nationals fans?
Sjoyce you troll, you pink hatters come to cbp cause season ticket holders like me would rather double my money and watch on tv for a couple gms then deal with all you bandwagon sox fans
how pathetic and embarrassing by the nats. you get fans to come by putting together a good fucking team or else you get embarrassed.
@Jeffe, no one likes the O’s in Virginia or anywhere. All Marylanders are living in the days of Cal Ripken which were mediocre at best. @Splinter, you’re retarded as well, most PA people come down cause the state is such a shithole and they need to get away.
@lukas, agree, I meant to say more O’s fans than Nationals, which isn’t saying much. Yankees, Sox and Phils are all more popular here than either team.
Jeffe, you’re an idiot. no one roots for the O’s in Virginia or Maryland. except people living the days of Cal Ripken, and the team still sucked then.
Lukas, PA is such a shithole because Pennsylvanians made it that way. Now they’re overrunning Virginia, fucking here up, too. Especially the Pittsburgh assholes. Holy shit what a bunch of cunts!
lukas, i live in VA. i can assure you there are O’s fans here. im not claiming the team is good or they can sell tickets.
Yeah I paid 10 bucks for my ticket. If someone doubled their money on me, they couldn’t even buy a cheesesteak in that cess pool of a city.
Keep talking buddy!
Considering that their stadium is typically empty, allowing people to buy tickets on game day, I think it’s cute that they pretend as if their “fans” are going to even think to buy tickets to a game 3 months in advance.
The Phillies’ fans should be even more amusing this year. Call them whatever you like, but there’s no denying that they travel well.
jeffe what part of VA do you live in? Baltimore?
This is as bad if not worse than the Rays giving away free tickets to their game back in 2010. Since when was it yours anyway? Phillies fans mob the Nats every chance they get, and rather than having a discriminating pre-sale to try and keep Phils fans out, you should just count your blessings that they also wear red so from a distance you cant tell who the fans are supporting.
hey @sjoyce54… do you know what’s kinda funny… is that the last time josh beckett pitched in cbp he lost 5-0. cliff lee embarrassed the gay sox. even dom brown hit a two run homer off beckett. oh and that season you were referring too… yeah…we were defending world champs… and we would go onto win the pennant. its ok red sox, you’re just not as good as the phillies. maybe you should worry about beating those 69 win o’s and not letting up a nine game lead with a month of baseball left. the pats maybe a legit franchise that cheats, the celtics maybe pretty legit too, but the red sox here in philadelphia are as relevant as any team not named the yankees. fans probably sold their tickets to that game because they could profit off of stupid boston fans. why wouldn’t the defending champs fans’ watch their team (win that game) on tv and make money? you guys had two good runs in 2004 and 2007. but how a red sox fan comes on a blog to talk shit on the phillies is mind blowing. terrible overrated franchise that had to wait 86 years for their next championship. congratulations you have the same amount of world series titles as the phillies in modern day era baseball (free agency). its ok, boston, we know how much you overhype the sox. but in the end, they’re as relevant as the o’s to us. the same o’s team that made the whole country point and augh at your entire city and overhyped baseball team.
