This just confused me on so many levels. Not just because Nyjer Morgan is black — although that does have something to do with it. I think it’s more about how completely unpredictable this dude is. At one point I would have said that Ron Artest was the biggest enigma in pro sports, but that was a long time ago. Not after joining forces with the Dark Lord Kobe and changing his name to Meta World Peace and smiling all the damn time. Craziness subdued to minor quirkiness. But Nyjer Morgan — this motherfucker is crazy.

Half expected him to yell “Sike!” and just start beating 4th line dudes over the back with his stick. But I guess he’s serious about the Sharks. He’s so fucking hard to read. Look in his eyes — nothing. No feedback. No little twinkle that says “I’m listening and I’m a regular human being who wants peace and security just like you do.” Nope. Inside this pupils lies nothing but strange anticipation and unpredictability. You love the Sharks? Okay, cool. Just…just don’t hurt any kids or anything.
