DMChris Christie today defended his decision to lower the flags on New Jersey government buildings on the day of Whitney Houston’s funeral. The Republican governor rejected any suggestion that the singer ‘forfeited the good things that she did’ because of her struggles with substance abuse. ‘What I would say to everybody is there but for the grace of God go I,’ he added. But Mr Christie has also faced criticism from those who argue that entertainers do not deserve such a high-profile honour and that it should be reserved to soldiers and other public servants. The governor said his office had received emails and other messages disparaging Ms Houston and attacking his decision to have flags flown at half-mast over state government buildings on Saturday, the day of her funeral in the Newark church where she sang in the choir as a child. Twitter was abuzz today with reaction to the decision by Mr Christie, whose home is in Mendham, a wealthy town where Ms Houston also had lived. … ‘I am disturbed by people who believe that because her ultimate demise — and we don’t know what is the cause of her death yet — but because of her history of substance abuse that somehow she’s forfeited the good things that she did in her life,’ Mr Christie said. ‘I just reject that on a human level.’

You can’t be mad at Chris Christie for ordering flags at half-staff for the death of an international superstar who lived in his neighborhood — have you never heard ‘I Will Always Love You’? Have you never seen The Bodyguard? Can’t blame Christie for having a heart, no matter how far it’s buried inside that cavern of loose skin and cholesterol he calls an upper body. The man knows what people care about: HITS. Sure it might be more polite to reserve government flag changes for dead soldiers, politicians, and first responders, but how many of them have ever inspired an entire nation with only their voice? How many of them have won 30 Billboard Music Awards? How many of them have ever been sexually desired by Osama Bin Laden. NOT MANY.

If our future obese President knows anything, it’s politics, saturated fats, and inspirational early 90′s pop ballads. All these Grinch-ass bitches freaking out because Whitney smoked a rock or two in her lifetime obviously don’t understand America. Every great musician/artist in history has had drug problems. Even George and Martha Washington stayed high as shit. Don’t separate Whitney because her vice of choice made her sweat randomly and do Tyrone Biggums dances in the glasses store. The lady was a legend. Sold over 170 million albums. How many albums did these dead politicians sell? Exactly.
