The Flyers are Cursed
Flyers lose all the damn time now. We let Detroit into the 20 consecutive wins at home club. I’m pissed off about all this shit, and its time to start blaming people. Grab your torches and pitch forks. It’s Witch Huntin time.
Trading Mike Richards was stupid. The Richards trade still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The more I think about it, the more it angers me. We could really use a player like him in this lineup. It angers me that so many people think this was the right move. We were two wins away from winning the cup in 2010. We were in first place in the NHL for 3/4 of the season in 2011. Then we blew it up because we ran into a hot Bruins team with revenge on their minds. Didn’t make sense why we had to rebuild, and rebuilding without adding any defensive upgrades was just short sighted and dumb. Everyone knew Pronger wasn’t gonna be healthy this year. Now we have no leadership, only a bunch of kids and concussions. Don’t get me wrong, I love Simmonds and Couturier, and if Bryzgalov played how he was billed than this wouldn’t even be an argument.
But shit didn’t happen like that. Now I gotta figure out what to do about it. Because thats my job as a fan and a semi-professional sports writer. I gotta start with things that I find obvious.
Brayden Schenn has been playing awesome lately. He definitely looks comfortable at this level and is seeing a lot of ice time as a reward. Doesn’t change the fact that he is cursed and is ruining our team. He just has to change his number and everything will be alright.

I got a friend who texts me every time Schenn queefs, like, “You can borrow my Schenn shirtsy if you want.” And I’m like yeah, nice goal but how bout all those turnovers. I’m really starting to like Schenn, but a curse is a curse, he’s gotta go, or we need to go get his brother, because everyone knows that Schenns cancel each other out, like a double negative. Curse lifted.
The halfway hockey fans that hate Bryzgalov because he thinks about deep shit, and speaks from his heart, instead of realizing that our soft fucking defense gets knocked around in front of the net all the damn time and our forwards can’t clear the puck without a turnover against the big teams in the league. But it’s all Bryzgalov’s fault. Suck my balls.
We need a defender, and Nashville isn’t going to trade Weber or Suter because they might actually make some noise in the playoffs this year. So now our most realistic options are Luke Schenn or Hal Gill. Toronto wanted JVR 2 years ago and probably still do. JVR and a couple high picks gets us Luke Schenn, one of the most hardest hittinest free safeties in the league. Then we have Schenn brothers. And maybe having double Schenn’s will eliminate the curse. I’ll take Hal Gill if that doesn’t work out. I don’t even like No Skill Gill, but he’s a heavy beast and that’s what we need. He’s just sooo slow.
It’s hard to see the big picture while being invested in the minutiae of the regular season. Especially since we can’t beat the Rangers. It’s frustrating. We peaked to soon last yea. Our cup run two years ago started from a shootout victory on the 82nd game of the season to even make the playoffs. Its impossible to say how this season will end. All you gotta do is get in, then anything can happen. Luke Schenn couldn’t hurt.

Luke Schenn couldnt hurt is the best you could come up with? Please. He’s BARELY better than Bourdon and probably right on par with Meszaros. We NEED a number 1 or 2 defenseman, not another number 4 or 5.
Don’t know man, agree with trading Richards and Carter but not a good moving getting a young stud defenseman back. Bryz was a mistake especially for that long and for that much money especially when characters like B Elliot are stoning fools and making peanuts. Pronger is old too so Im shocked big paully didn’t see a major injury coming as well. Gimme Schenn and let’s see what happens.
YOU CAN’T BEAT US
As much as I love Lavi but he can’t coach defense for shit. Can get you to score 8 goals but can’t stop teams from scoring 9. Look at the Rangers. The only reason they win is cause Flyers d sucks and don’t block shots and Rangers solid in front of Lundy and block 15-25 shots a game. Last I checked you can’t score if you can’t hit the net.
JVR was the best player in the NHL in the playoffs last year. A #2 overall pick and he has a reasonable cap hit locked in for years. You want to trade him AND a couple of high picks for Toronto’s #5 defenseman? Holy shit dude, you don’t know shit. If they traded JVR to Toronto, it would be for Schenn + a #1 + another player like Kadri. BTW, losing players like JVR, Pronger, Briere, Jagr, and now Vorachek to injuries… yea that shit adds up.

as a Leafs fan, Schenn won’t help you THAT much, he has bursts of really solid play but fucks up quite a bit, no playoff experience so its hard to say if he’ll help you there. Burke won’t make a move on JVR even though he loves his Americans. Bottom line is we (the Leafs) have a ton of depth in D and can afford to move some…expect Komisarek who is actually solid despite all the criticism he gets. He’s taking one for the team while young D like Gardiner are getting their shot… Leafs can give ya Komi, Keith Aulie (solid D whos NHL ready)

truth9924, “we” establishes that the writer is a fan of the team. If he were to say “the Flyers” every time, it would seem like he wasn’t a fan. Like you said, reporters would use the name of the team. That’s because they need to maintain an unbiased opinion, while this is a blogger talking about his favorite team. Huge difference. Of all the grammatical errors and stupid idioms on this website, this is small potatoes.
jagrbombs is dead on. JVR would fetch WAY more than just Schenn. Schenn is good, but he and JVR are not even close in value. It would take Schenn + 1st + maybe Colborne. But either way, there’s no way the Flyers would send JVR+ for Schenn.
