Philly.com – Yet Vick neither downplayed his comments nor softened his stance. Instead, the team’s starting quarterback seemed to puff his chest and announce to his teammates – and anyone who would listen – to follow him. “That’s just me speaking in confidence, and if you ask my teammates, they’d tell you the same thing and feel the same way,” Vick said. “As a quarterback, that’s just how you feel. I feel you’ve got to speak it into existence. You’ve got to aim and shoot for the stars, and if you miss, you’ll be amongst them.”
I love this stuff. How can you not love this stuff? No back-peddling political flippity-floppy pussy cop out. You’ve gotta believe it before you can achieve it. You’ve got to say things aloud to turn them into reality. You’ve got to shoot for the stars, and if you miss…something something. Whatever he said. The pieces are finally in place.
Mike Patterson’s potential year-long absence (baseless!) would be a big blow to the interior run defense, but defensive linemen dominate the Birds’ roster like Andy Reid’s mustache dominates his face:
Losing Patterson would be a solid straight right to the jaw much like the loss of Peters, but certainly not a knockout blow. Plus it ups the chances we get to unleash a Trent Cole/Fletcher Cox/Cullen Jenkins/Jason Babin line on 2nd and maybe 1st downs this season. Sacks on sacks on sacks.
Anyway, you gotta shoot up with the stars so you don’t miss your dreams just like Vick said. Or whatever.
