Awful, ax-grinding, agenda-driven piece.
I mean, it came in below expectations but still pulled #1 for the weekend and is in line to be a money-maker.
To declare it a bomb after a $36.2 non-holiday weekend is a bit of a joke in and of itself. And then to use mostly anonymous quotes from multiple agents (agents!) to (allegedly) back it up is some pretty shoddy work for a site supposedly raising the bar*; one that even Sim thinks is pretentious.
I don't even know who those writers are but I bet they're hipster-types who can't wait to tell you how 'Attack the Block' was way better than 'C&A'. I sensed a bit of a critical backlash on it.The 48% on RT doesn't help. Former poster Boston
was a big fan, FWIW.
*---Deadspin has been doing a bang-up of job of keeping Grantland in check. And, to me, the many, lazy errors reek of arrogance. Like you're too good to take 4 extra seconds to look something up or to even get a guy to make sure it's right because, Goddamn it, you're right all the time. I mean, they're fucking Intro to Journo/100 level class mistakes that are insulting to readers but somehow don't get picked up.
