Over 26K People Have Signed A Petition To Have Texas Secede From The Union
TEXAS – A petition for Texas to secede from the union, submitted to the White House, reached the number of signatures needed to draw comment from the Obama administration today. The petition appeared on a section of the White House website called “We the People” that invites users with a U.S. zip code to submit or sign petitions about policy changes they would like to see. A petition must reach 25,000 signatures within 30 days for the administration to comment on it. The petition to “Peacefully grant the State of Texas to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government,” was submitted on Friday of last week. Just three days later, it zoomed past the 25,000 mark at 3:22 p.m. today and kept going.
I’m not one of those “Love it or leave it” or “If ___ wins I’m moving to Canada” assholes and believe everyone has the right to at least question the authority that reigns over them, but you know what? Go right the fuck ahead, Texas. Let’s see how long you last by yourself. Over/under would be 6 months. Pretty sure a country can’t survive too well if its economy is based solely on guns, football and Jesus. Having this guy and Jerry Jones’ already walking corpse duke it out for Lord of the Land might not be the best move, either. Plus not paying any taxes will be nice until 20 million Mexicans invade over the federally protected border and force everyone to mow their own lawns and make all the cowboys admit they aren’t just keeping it on the down-low for fun. The fact of the matter is if you’re going to actually sign a petition to secede from the country, America should hold you to it and see how well you survive. Good fucking luck. And you can take Florida with you while you’re at it, too.

I have a feeling if Texas secedes it will be the Mexicans worrying not the Texacans. And I think I’ll join them. There won’t be a lot of cell phones, welfare checks and food stamps being handed out to the darkly complected lads.
try triple 25k.. its over 75,000
“Pretty sure a country can’t survive too well if its economy is based solely on guns, football and Jesus.” –
Pretty sure it can…
smitty take your fingers off that keyboard, and stick them back up your ass..
Well, if any state will do it and make it work it will be Texas. Majority of domestic oil and gas is supplied by Texas. They have enough natural resources they’d be making money hand over fist from the rest of the nation.

Pretty sure you eat retard sandwiches. Texas has one of the best economies in the country, due to oil, trade, and low taxes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Texas. Can’t blame ‘em.
holy shit i was right! thanks for the confirmation rearender

so as a canadian I’m curious…is texas like the quebec of the US? like you’ll go there to party, but if they just broke off and left it would be no biggie? sounds like the only thing texas contributes to the US is military personnel (i know I’m probably way off, thats why I’m asking)
Texans are great, the hate Coons with a passion but are religious Christian zealots at the same time.
they^
and there is no chance Texas sustains itself alone because once border patrol isn’t there you better believe the state’s population will triple THE DAY the US government resets the line above Texas. Good thing they have all those natural resources because they’re going to need it
Alaska leads in oil production. Texas has a balanced budget but they also receive fed money to pay for things such as education, border security, public institutions, healthcare etc.
So .003% of the Texas population has signed the petition. Who fuckin cares
I’d like to propose a cut in the Jesus tax from the Biblical mandate of 10% to 4.20%. That should ease the political tensions enough to keep Texas around for a while.
What I respect most about Texas is when someone murders someone, they actually execute them. It takes a while but they do it. Criminals actually think about it. Most other places, they are clothed, fed and housed at $40,000 a year at taxpayer expense, then released for “good behavior” after 8-10 years.
im sure Texans and Cowboys fans will be pumped that their team has to move to the Mexican Football League
pretty sure a country can survive pretty well on oil. use your head smitty
Texas would do just fine by themselves. If they were a country, their GDP (in 2010) would rank them 15th in the world. In today’s terms they would be higher due the fall of countries like Spain, Italy, and France.
And they wouldn’t need to pay for border patrol, it would become every citizens new hobby, but just make sure the bullets are tax deductible.
texas fuck ya!
I’m moving to Texas!
Texans are so stupid. They house a huge portion of US military installations in their state and they want to just kick out all of that and start their own military and border protection? Half their economy probably comes straight out of the defense departments budget. Kiss goodbye to federal assistance for schools(all you need is the bible, right?), hospitals, highways, OIL SUBSIDIES, etc.
Sure, Texas, you can secede. You’re just slowing down the rest of us anyways.
I’m from San Antonio, and Texas had one of the healthiest economies with the lowest unemployment throughout the great recession. Our economy would be in the top 20 in the world without the U.S. Please don’t act like we need yall to survive and definitely don’t act like yall don’t need us, it’s just denial.
We’d be fine without the rest of you assholes. But the bigger assholes are these traitor fuckers who signed this petition. Fuck those guys and be glad you live in a country where peaceful election happen on schedule and they, for the most part, leave you alone.
A fucking plus blog. Bye Texas, good luck, you fucking losers
Smitty you liberal fucktard…Texas has the 15th largest economy in the world…They’d be perfectly fine on their own. Lost a lot of respect for you man, your worse than kneel in my eyes.
Oh and @ johnnydoherty, we are more the Alberta of the US. Whether or not thats a good thing I don’t know. At least we aren’t like the Newfies.
Hahahaha, good luck Texas. Remember the Alamo!
Half of all new jobs are created in Texas. They may be a bunch of hicks and right-wing bigots, but i think theyd do ok
I think Texas would do just fine on it’s own. They’d have real border patrol, and they got all the oil and technology companies down there.
getting rid of austin should at least lower the national average for obesity. now we just have to get you to leave.
For everyone saying “b-b-b-but they’ll lose their federal funding for x,y and z!!” – last I knew Texas actually put more money in then they take out.
